How to measure the height of a tall tree.

With a stick and a helper.

1. Measure the apparant height of the tree with a stick,
held vertical at arm's length.

2.Turn the stick horizontal (keep your arm straight).
Get your helper to walk away from the tree,
until you tell them to stop.

Measure distance from helper to tree

3. The distance from helper to tree = height of tree.
